John Carter, PH.D.

Senior Vice President, Data Services

John Carter is Senior Vice President, Data Services for Equifax. He has corporate responsibility for data acquisition, data integration and data quality.

John has extensive background and is widely known as an expert in database marketing, segmentation and predictive modeling. Over the last 20 years, John has held senior level positions at several leading marketing and information companies.

Prior to joining Equifax, John was Vice President, Professional Services for Responsys where he led the strategic consulting organization which provided online database marketing services and website analytics. Before that, John led Acxiom’s analytical services business and created SmartBase, a cooperative database used by catalogers for prospecting and cross-sell programs. Prior to Acxiom, John was Senior Vice President, Product Development for Strategic Mapping where he developed information products for business geographic applications. John also served as Vice President, Information Services for Citibank where he pioneered the use of electronic frequency programs and large scale transactional databases. John began his career at Donnelley Marketing as a research statistician and left as Director, Statistical Services.

John received his Ph.D. in statistics from the University of Connecticut and was formerly Assistant Professor of Statistics at Duquesne University.

John is a member of American Statistical Association, American Marketing Association and Direct Marketing Association. He currently serves as Chairman of the DMA Research Council Operating Committee.
